Job Title: SEN Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Specialist School, Dudley

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Contract: Temporary

Weekly Salary: £420 to £450

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Behaviour Support Assistant to work at a specialist school in Dudley. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will provide individualized support to a pupil with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they thrive in a positive, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN, focusing on managing and improving behaviour.
  • Implement individual behaviour plans and assist in developing strategies for effective emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to support learning and social development.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem.
  • Encourage participation in class activities and ensure the pupil is fully integrated into the learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, especially those with behavioural challenges.
  • Happy to do personal care if required.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow school policies and procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or support work are desirable but not essential; we welcome applicants with experience.
  • A Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
