Job Title: Principal Engineer - Product Safety

Location: Flexible working arrangements available across various locations, including Frimley, Filton, Broadoak, Brough, Manchester, Weymouth, and Barrow-In-Furness.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead a small team in developing a functional Safety Case for our submarine systems. As a key member of our Product Safety team, you will be responsible for managing the production of the Safety Case to a defined schedule, reporting to a Safety Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team in developing a functional Safety Case for submarine systems
  • Manage the production of the Safety Case to a defined schedule
  • Undertake complex safety analysis using techniques such as Fault Tree analysis and Event Tree Analysis
  • Produce written function safety justifications
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including System Engineers, Human Factors Subject Matter Experts, and other internal and external teams

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A STEM degree or relevant experience in leading a small team, delivering functional Safety Cases, complex safety analysis, and justification
  • Experience in Vehicle Control and Complex Control Systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
