Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioural Support Specialist to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Behavioural Support Specialist, you will work closely with a child who has severe Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and is non-verbal, providing individualized support to help them access the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to the child, using Makaton, PECs, and Core boards to facilitate communication.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support the child's learning and behavior, in collaboration with the teaching team.
  • Assist with daily reports and updates to the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and annual review documents.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, professionals, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting the child.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience working with children with ASC and non-verbal communication needs.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND system in the UK and ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach.
