Position Overview

Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is excited to present a unique opportunity to become a vital member of our research team, contributing to a significant trial aimed at enhancing treatment methodologies for individuals experiencing psychosis and associated persecutory thoughts.

This role is tailored for Clinical Psychologists who possess a strong background in research. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the trial, responsible for administering psychological therapies, conducting psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, overseeing research assistants in clinical assessments, and guiding fellow clinicians in the implementation of therapeutic interventions.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, enabling them to manage various interconnected aspects of the project effectively. Strong interpersonal abilities are essential, as the role involves engaging with potentially vulnerable individuals through interviews, assessments, and treatment sessions. A genuine enthusiasm for the research domain, coupled with a high degree of motivation and dedication, is crucial.

The position will be based within the research team, collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator and the Research and Development Team. The role will require travel across various locations to support the trial's objectives.

Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Deliver and oversee specialized cognitive-behavioral interventions for individuals diagnosed with psychosis and experiencing persecutory delusions, with comprehensive training provided.
  • Develop and apply specialized skills in assessing and formulating treatment plans for persecutory delusions within the context of psychosis.
  • Establish strong collaborative relationships with clinical teams to ensure coordinated care for patients receiving interventions.
  • Supervise staff involved in treatment delivery, ensuring adherence to protocols and high engagement rates.
  • Provide clinical oversight to research assistants conducting relevant clinical assessments.
  • Facilitate recruitment and intervention provision across the organization, necessitating travel to various clinical teams and patient residences.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with trial and organizational protocols.
  • Participate in supervision and relevant research team meetings.
  • Occasionally work irregular hours to accommodate patient availability.
  • Fulfill administrative responsibilities related to the project.
  • Adhere to the guidelines established by the Data Protection Act and maintain confidentiality.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in therapeutic interventions with the target client group.
  • Advanced skills in psychological assessment and knowledge.

Desirable

  • Experience in relevant research and development or clinical audit work post-qualification.
