GCHQ and MI5 are integral components of the UK's Intelligence Services, collaborating to protect the nation from a range of threats, including cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organized crime.
This is a unique 11-week paid internship where you will be immersed in our language teams, contributing significantly to our operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
As a participant, you will:
- Utilize your Russian language proficiency and cultural insights to analyze audio and written content.
- Employ specialized tools to extract and present valuable information to your team.
- Provide essential context for colleagues and intelligence partners through translation and transcription of Russian materials, which may include technical or specialized content.
- Influence operational strategies by presenting your findings and drafting intelligence reports.
- Engage in research activities to support our mission.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your language skills, realize your potential, and collaborate with like-minded individuals passionate about linguistics.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify, you must:
- Hold (or expect to obtain) at least a 2:2 degree in Russian and be in your final year of study or have graduated recently.
- Be a British Citizen (or possess dual nationality with one component being British) and have resided in the UK for seven out of the last ten years.
Additional Information:
You do not need a technical background, but a willingness to learn and develop new skills, particularly those that complement your language capabilities, is essential.
Participants will receive a salary of £6,193 - £6,908 based on location, along with benefits such as 5.5 days of annual leave and access to various facilities.
A comprehensive training and development package will be provided, combining classroom instruction with practical experience to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Support from trained professionals, along with coaching and mentoring, will be available to help you excel in this role.
At the conclusion of the programme, there may be opportunities to apply for permanent positions, contingent upon assessments and interviews.
