Kier Professional Services (KPS) is seeking a Principal Engineer to enhance our dynamic team.
KPS serves as the engineering consultancy branch of Kier Group, delivering innovative design solutions, expert technical guidance, and comprehensive engineering support across various business units.
With over 2,000 designs produced annually for more than 400 projects, we are recognized as one of the leading Temporary Works designers in the UK. Our team of over 100 Temporary Works engineers possesses vast expertise in designing and verifying Temporary Works for projects of all scales and sectors.

Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Engineer at KPS, you will collaborate closely with project teams to facilitate the delivery of a wide range of civil and structural services, encompassing both Temporary and Permanent Works throughout the Kier organization. You will also play a pivotal role in providing solutions that are both safe and feasible for implementation.
Your daily tasks will include:
- Designing and verifying Temporary Works, utilizing various materials, and integrating with Permanent Works design as necessary.
- Delivering alternative solutions and value engineering to enhance Kier's reputation.
- Supporting tender stages and bids with a focus on buildability, efficiency, and innovation.
- Conducting technical assessments and reviews of third-party designs to ensure compliance with project briefs and client requirements.
- Mentoring and managing junior team members within KPS.
Qualifications and Skills
This Principal Engineer role is ideal for you if:
- You are a chartered engineer or are on the path to becoming chartered.
- You have a keen interest in Temporary Works Design or possess relevant experience.
- You hold a valid UK driving license.
