Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Homelessness Triage Specialist to join our team at Adecco. As a key member of our Homelessness Prevention and Solutions Service, you will be responsible for providing an effective triage and duty service to individuals in housing need or threatened with homelessness.
Key Responsibilities- Interview and assess homeless individuals on the day, making preliminary investigations to ensure they provide evidence and documentation at the earliest opportunity.
- Provide comprehensive advice on a full range of options to solve their housing problem, including tenancy rights, housing, and welfare benefits.
- Conduct initial assessments to determine eligibility and homelessness, making initial enquiries into reason to believe the client is eligible and homeless.
- Filter and contact online housing options forms, conducting preliminary enquiries and providing advice and assistance to prevent homelessness occurring.
- Check Section 21 validity and refer to Safer Renting regarding illegal evictions.
- Respond to 'Duty to Refer' and make initial enquiries and first contact.
- Capture and process data on the Council's housing system (NEC) to accurately reflect the application process and stage of application.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive case notes and records are kept of contact and advice given.
- Ensure documents are scanned and labelled correctly and added to the customer's records.
- Book appointments for clients who cannot be prevented from becoming homeless or are already homeless to be interviewed by a case officer.
- Working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
- Knowledge of security of tenure.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and advice services, including Domestic Abuse services.
- Experience of dealing with customers in person, telephone, and email.
- Experience of working in housing advice/homelessness.
- Ability to work independently and manage a workload, prioritizing urgent cases.
- Good communication skills, both written and orally.
- Experience of using IT applications.
