Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Director to join our team at Thatcher Associates. As a Design Director, you will be responsible for leading the design process on allocated projects, managing the interface between contractors and external consultants, and utilizing innovation strategies to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the design process on allocated projects
  • Manage the interface between contractor and external consultants
  • Utilize innovation strategies available into projects where possible
  • Support and understand the developer's requirements to ensure the design is being adhered to through the build process
  • Manage the design process using commercial contractual, programme/time awareness, and technical expertise
  • Ensure the design process recognizes current legislation, standards, and codes of practice where appropriate
  • Ensure design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales

Requirements:

  • BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering, Building, or a HNC/HND in Building Studies or a degree in Construction Management or Architecture
  • Good knowledge of Building Regulations and Planning
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Residential or multistory project experience, open to new build or refurbishment
  • Ideal candidate will currently be working for a national, regional building contractor, developer, or architect practice with experience working on schemes up to £20 million in value from pre-construction/planning through to handover
