Position Overview:

As the Head of Control and Instrumentation Projects, you will lead the Control and Instrumentation Engineering Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.

Role Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Control and Instrumentation Engineer (preferably chartered) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Lead and manage the Control and Instrumentation Engineering Team.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to engineers and designers.
  • Develop scopes of work and estimates to support project proposals.
  • Ensure the engineering design scope is delivered within budget and timelines.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, clients, and package vendors.
  • Act as the design authority for all control and instrumentation aspects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve design calculations, specifications, data sheets, reports, and drawings in accordance with British and International Standards.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and client standards.
  • Provide specialized design input to 3D models.
  • Conduct technical analysis of proposals from equipment manufacturers and contractors.
  • Interpret vendor and other discipline drawings and information.
  • Participate in safety, risk, planning, model, and constructability reviews.
  • Identify and report scope changes.
  • Adhere to Company Quality Management Systems.
  • Perform other professional duties as required.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in Heavy Engineering, Chemical, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas Industries is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Control and Instrumentation, ideally within high-hazard process industries.
  • Relevant Technical Engineering Degree and preferably a Chartered Engineer status.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficient in task allocation and progress monitoring to meet project requirements.
  • Experience in both design office and operational plant settings.
  • Comfortable engaging with clients and vendors at all business levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and familiar with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of ATEX and equipment for electrically hazardous areas.
  • Experience or qualifications in Functional Safety is advantageous.
