About the Role

Farrans Construction is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a major project in County Durham and Tees Valley. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for monitoring project costs, maximizing revenue, and minimizing liabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate financial reporting and analysis to ensure commercial success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain and clients.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring timely payments and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Place supply chain orders in accordance with the procurement schedule.
  • Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring compliance with contract conditions.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget and provide cost projections.
  • Explore opportunities to maximize value and minimize cost.
  • Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims, and additional payments.
Requirements
  • Prior experience in a construction QS role, working on major projects.
  • Strong understanding of modern building techniques, plant, and equipment, and logistical needs.
  • Strong understanding of construction contract conditions.
  • Appreciation of the impact of cost on project completion and development of construction solutions.
  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.
