Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Junior Practice Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will primarily focus on providing smear tests, immunisations, travel vaccinations, and wound care. This role is perfect for a nurse who is passionate about patient care and looking to grow their skills in a supportive setting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Administer childhood and adult immunisations
  • Conduct cervical screening smear tests
  • Provide wound care, including assessment, cleaning, and dressing of wounds
  • Offer travel health advice and vaccinations
  • Remove sutures
  • Assist with patient education and advice on health maintenance and disease prevention
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals within the practice
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to GDPR and NMC guidelines
  • Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained
  • Record and escalate any newly identified SEAs or complaints using the correct pathway
  • Participate in practice audits, quality improvement initiatives, QOF, and support implementation of updated protocols and guidelines when required

Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a current NMC pin
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably within a GP practice or community healthcare environment
  • Competency in administering immunisations and conducting smear tests
  • Wound care knowledge and skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Show empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity whilst communicating with patients, ensuring a patient-centred approach that respects cultural and individual needs
