Caretaker Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced caretaker to join our team at a wonderful school in Richmond Upon Thames. As a caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security and maintenance of the school premises.

• Conduct daily visual inspections of the property to identify any maintenance issues
• Ensure all service areas (heating, lighting, and water) are operational and functioning correctly
• Manage consumable stock for cleaning and maintenance, including ordering and inventory management
• Perform first-line maintenance on fixtures and fittings, including minor repairs and replacements
• Address plumbing issues, such as clearing blockages and repairing leaks
• Paint and decorate as necessary to maintain a high standard of appearance
• Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and reduce downtime
• Maintain neat and tidy outdoor areas, including gardens and playgrounds
• Ensure safe access to the school, particularly during adverse weather conditions

• Prior experience in caretaking or maintenance, preferably in an educational setting
• Skills in painting and decorating, including wallpapering and tiling
• Good communication skills, able to read and write English
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a willingness to work independently
• Confident working alone and as part of a team
• Basic knowledge of IT, including email and basic software applications
