Senior Audit Supervisor Responsibilities:

As the Senior Audit Supervisor, you will oversee specific audit clients and manage workflow through your team, delivering exceptional client service while ensuring compliance with job budgets and maximizing fee recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management & Relationships

· Take ownership of client portfolios and maintain ongoing management and development

· Collaborate with partners and team members who are essential stakeholders in audit operations across the service line

· Manage the day-to-day audit team effectively

· Serve as a people manager when necessary (refer to separate people manager job specification)

· Cultivate and expand your network of intermediaries and potential clients

· Engage with government bodies and external organizations such as HMRC and ICAEW

Principal Duties:

· Plan, prioritize, and allocate all relevant client audit tasks to ensure effective team workflow

· Establish the scope and budget for each client audit assignment under your control and ensure proper briefing to team members

· Secure full agreement from clients regarding audit work and communicate expected fees before commencement to optimize fee recovery

· Implement all client audit work according to the agreed budget, adhering to performance standards, with completed audited accounts ready for review and sign-off

· Actively seek ways to enhance audit efficiency

· Collaborate across the service line in a technical or sector-specific role

· Monitor progress and maintain appropriate communication with clients and internal stakeholders regarding each key task or phase

· Proactively manage situations where 'work performed' exceeds the agreed client fee and ensure a mutually acceptable resolution

· Prepare and send bills for your client audit work promptly

· Research and address issues for upward communication in complex clients or higher-risk audit aspects

· Conduct regular workflow meetings to prioritize tasks and ensure deadlines are met, keeping work on track and addressing any delays

Client and Organizational Contact:

· Manage, support, and develop a client portfolio, addressing complex issues or sector specialties to maximize client advocacy and fee levels

· Act as a primary contact for nominated clients to manage all their audit and service needs

· Respond to calls and written correspondence within required deadlines, ensuring commitments are fulfilled

· Lead audit review and closure meetings for your clients as necessary

· Proactively reach out to clients when relevant items of interest arise, adding value to their experience

· Ensure high levels of client service are maintained across your client base

· Facilitate access and support for other internal departments to your audit clients to assist in cross-selling services

· Ensure compliance with client hygiene factors, including AML, KYC reviews, and engagement letters

Leadership and Team Development:

· Recognize individual team member capabilities and aspirations to enable optimal performance through coaching and mentoring

· Set clear objectives for the audit team at the start of each assignment

· Monitor team and individual performance against initial objectives and service line KPIs

· Provide regular feedback to audit team members on their performance, ensuring recognition of achievements and addressing areas for improvement

· Assist senior managers and directors in recruiting new audit service line team members at the assistant manager level and below

· Oversee the professional development of audit team members

Financial Management & Business Planning:

· Track team and individual KPIs in alignment with the Audit service line business plan

· Communicate successes when service line performance meets or exceeds targets and encourage celebration of achievements

· Instigate remedial actions when performance falls below target, focusing efforts on improvement

Business Development:

· Continue to build your network of intermediaries, generating referrals from your client base and converting prospects into new clients

· Support the audit team in achieving departmental incremental fee targets through networking, meeting attendance, business pitches, webinars, and sector-specific articles

· Develop strong internal connections within Kreston Reeves to ensure access and support from all departments for their client bases
