Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Haematologist to join our specialist haemostasis and thrombosis haematology team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical management of non-malignant haematology patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
  • Work closely with members of the H&T and wider haematology team to develop skills in haemostasis and thrombosis, TTP, immune haematology, and phase 1-3 clinical trials.
  • Manage patients with general haematological disorders, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, and immune haematological disorders in an outpatient setting.
  • Participate in the recruitment and management of patients within clinical trials.
  • Contribute to the non-resident 1:3 out of hours consultant cover for H&T, TTP, and transfusion.
  • Active participation in the education and training of junior doctors, nursing staff, and allied health professionals.
  • Provide haematology advice and guidance to GPs and other specialties.
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration.
  • CCT (haematology) or within 6 months of obtaining CCT on date of interview.
  • MRCP and FRCPath (or equivalent).
  • Experience in teaching and training undergraduate medical students and/or postgraduate doctors and other health professionals.
  • Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and colleagues (verbal and written communication skills in English).
  • Competence with information technology including remote working.
