Job Title: Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology to join our team. The successful candidate will have a special interest in Glaucoma and will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, teaching and training junior doctors and medical students, and participating in audit activities.

About the Role

The post entails 5 Programmed Activities (PAs), encompassing outpatient clinics, laser, and day case sessions. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to provide excellent patient care and to contribute to the development of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including outpatient clinics, laser, and day case sessions
  • Teach and train junior doctors and medical students
  • Participate in audit activities and contribute to the development of the department
  • Provide clinical advice and supervision to junior doctors and medical students
  • Contribute to the development of the department and participate in quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • FRCOphth or equivalent qualification
  • Higher Degree
  • Full GMC Registration
  • On the Specialist Register, hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within 6 months of obtaining the CCT
  • Sub-specialty experience and training in the clinical management of Medical Retina & Uveitis
  • Clinical training and experience and ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues related to speciality
  • Experience of risk management
  • Publications on glaucoma
  • A minimum of 1 year post CCT clinical fellowship in Glaucoma
