Business Operations Manager

The North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Business Operations/Delivery Manager to join their team. As a key member of the Operations Team, you will be responsible for delivering Trust KPIs, leading on strategies to manage Surge and escalation, and engaging with internal and external system partners to ensure accurate data and information is shared.
You will provide out-of-hours senior management support to all service lines, including PTS, Urgent Care Services, Support Services, EOC, and external contacts. You will be the lead point of contact for on-day service issues, impacting daily service delivery and escalations to healthcare and other emergency services partners.
The successful candidate will receive training and development to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the role to a high standard.
Main Duties:- Lead the planning and scheduling of resources with RSD and NEASUS.
- Take tactical decisions to correct performance metrics that fall outside the agreed operational thresholds.
- Make effective decisions on behalf of NEAS that affect patient care, the public, staff, and the Service using well-informed judgment and when necessary in collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
- A role model leader by demonstrating effective and appropriate behaviors in day-to-day operations and in high-risk, difficult, and distressing situations.
- Lead and regulate all internal/external performance/surge conference calls to ensure all contributors to service delivery are fully briefed of requirements. Manage the actions required to optimize performance.
- Identify potential projects/efficiencies/gaps, tasking service lines to address issues.
- Provide information on service performance, working with the Performance team and EOC staff, including daily performance updates, managing escalation through the CSP, intraday analysis of performance with actions taken, details of incidents/events, and serious untoward incidents.
- Educated to Master's level or equivalent operational experience.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Significant operational experience in an emergency service.
- Planning and prioritizing conflicting demands and often unpredictable work patterns.
- Delivering services that demonstrate value for money and making economies where possible.
- Demonstrating continuous personal development, including management, organizational development, and change management.
- Demonstrable recent or current management experience at the same or similar level.
- Delivering and improving operational performance.
- Establishing effective partnerships with key stakeholders and trade unions at a local level.
- Recent or current experience in an emergency service.
- Being accountable for results and actions and in turn, holding others to account.
- Communicating (orally and in writing), adapting the styles and messages to match the situation and audiences, including delivering difficult information and at times, in distressing or emotional circumstances.
- Initiating, building, and maintaining relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.
- Demonstrating a passion for the delivery of quality services.
- Committing to working on a rota that involves being at work and on duty for days, nights, and weekends.
- Full, driving license, valid in the UK, and with no more than 3 penalty points.
