Position Overview

We are in search of a dedicated professional to join our esteemed team in the field of pediatric psychology. This role is designed for individuals with the necessary qualifications and experience to contribute effectively to our multidisciplinary teams.

The selected candidate will become a vital member of the Pediatric Psychology team within the Psychological and Mental Health Services (PAMHS) at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Additionally, they will serve as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the newly established Children and Young People's Gender Service.

This position involves collaboration with a large cohort of clinical psychologists specializing in various health conditions at GOSH. The team is committed to delivering specialized psychological services to children and adolescents receiving care in urology, endocrinology, dermatology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, and neurology.

The successful applicant will play a crucial role in clinical leadership, working closely with the lead psychologist of the stream. The responsibilities include providing highly specialized assessments, developing complex formulations, and delivering interventions both individually and in group settings. The role encompasses both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and requires close collaboration with medical multidisciplinary teams. Furthermore, the post-holder will be expected to offer consultation and training to staff members at GOSH, including facilitating debriefing sessions and reflective practice.

Key Responsibilities

The post-holder will also take on leadership responsibilities to oversee and strategize the delivery of a highly specialized psychology and psychotherapy service within the NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service, in partnership with the clinical lead. They will provide expert clinical input through comprehensive assessments, intricate formulations, and targeted interventions. The role includes supervising and managing a diverse range of psychological professionals and contributing significantly to the ongoing development of therapeutic interventions.

In both aspects of the role, the post-holder will ensure adherence to professional standards in applied psychology practice and oversee the systematic provision of professional supervision, governance, and quality assurance within the service.

  • Minimum 2:1 honors degree in Psychology.
