About the Role
A Sterile Services Technician is a vital member of our team, responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilising medical equipment. You will work closely with our Central Sterile Services Department Manager, Jim, to provide a safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service to all departments within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that every medical device is prepared fit for purpose prior to patient use
- Undertaking tasks involved with the decontamination process, including cleaning, checking, packing, assembling, sterilising, and distribution of medical devices
- Working in accordance with documented departmental policies and procedures
- Reporting all defects identified in theatre trays and instruments to the Sterile Service Manager
- Monitoring all procedures and reporting malfunctions of sterilisers/washer-disinfectors to the appropriate senior member of staff
What You'll Need
- Previous experience within the healthcare environment
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Hepatitis B and TB vaccination or willingness to obtain
