Position Overview:

Important Note: This role requires PVG Membership.

As of the new guidelines, candidates for positions necessitating PVG membership will be responsible for the associated costs, applicable only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. The Council will initially cover the PVG membership fee, which will later be deducted from the first full month's salary.

Role Responsibilities:

The primary objective is to provide high-quality education to designated students while actively participating in the professional and corporate environment of the school. This includes collaboration with pupils, staff, and relevant external organizations in accordance with the agreements of the SNCT.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching qualification
  • Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the relevant subject area, or eligibility for such registration
  • PVG scheme membership – Working with Children

Key Competencies:

  • Effectively manage and organize classes through comprehensive planning and preparation for teaching and learning.
  • Assess, document, and report on students' progress to inform diverse teaching and learning strategies.
  • Prepare students for examinations and assist with related administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Contribute to maintaining good order and addressing the broader needs of the school.
  • Engage in curriculum development initiatives.
  • Participate in school and council planning and improvement efforts.
  • Enhance personal knowledge and skills while contributing to the professional growth of colleagues, including probationary and student teachers.
  • Collaborate with parents, other professionals, agencies, and educational institutions.
  • Adhere to the professional standards set by the GTCS Code of Conduct and engage in the Scheme of Professional Update as required by GTCS.
