Job Title: Autonomy Software Dependability Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Analytical Scientist to join our Radiochemistry Group at AWE. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining, using, and developing detection equipment, performing complex radioactive sample analysis, and undertaking detailed analysis and software tool development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and develop detection equipment, including High Purity Germanium detectors and multi-detector systems.
  • Perform analysis of complex radioactive samples and develop tailored data analysis techniques.
  • Collaborate with a mixed-discipline team to provide extensive radiometric analysis capability.
  • Represent AWE nationally and overseas, participating in multi-national experimental campaigns.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level science qualification in physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Radiochemistry, Radiometrology, Radiation Physics, Nuclear Reactors, Dosimetry, Detection Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
  • Programming experience in languages such as C++, VBA, Python, Java, GEANT4, or MCNP.
  • Ability to travel abroad and represent AWE externally.
