About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Lead Vocal Instructor to join our team at BIMM Institute. As a key member of our academic staff, you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the field of singing, supporting the Course Leader, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach and lead modules in singing, ensuring effective delivery and quality assurance.
  • Develop and implement innovative digital solutions to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Assess and support student work, providing guidance on academic integrity and assessment requirements.
  • Act as an Academic Advisor, providing pastoral support and guidance to students.
  • Collaborate with the Course Leader to enhance the student learning experience and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Support student recruitment efforts and represent the singing department in governance and quality platforms.
  • Engage in professional development, scholarly activity, and research where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the Deputy Provost and other members of the Provost's Office on strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience and a significant profile within the relevant area of the creative industries.
  • A good undergraduate degree or equivalent Higher Education or professional qualification, and a teaching qualification relevant to Higher Education or a Fellowship of Advance HE (or willingness to achieve this within the first two years of employment).
  • Experience developing initiatives to enhance student participation and engagement, and supporting students academically and pastorally.
  • Proven experience in effective and innovative curriculum and teaching development activities.
  • Understanding of quality and standards in higher education and creative arts contexts.
  • Demonstrable impact on improving teaching quality and successful student outcomes.
  • Experience in implementing institutional policies and processes at the discipline level.
  • Ability to use data to improve student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
