About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist Physiotherapist to join our team at The Disabilities Trust. As a Senior Specialist Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in providing expert physiotherapy input to individuals with acquired brain injury, working across our Neurobehavioural, Neurorestorative, and Well-being pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as a specialist within the multi-disciplinary team, providing physiotherapy input within the BIRT neurobehavioural model to individuals with acquired brain injury.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, incorporating the best evidence and practice guidelines.
  • Provide specialist professional advice and support, using complex clinical problem-solving skills.
  • Engage in a specialist area of interest within the wider physio team, contributing to the development of specialist physiotherapy provision within the service.
  • Liaise with internal and external professionals, relevant organisations, family members, and individuals with acquired brain injury.
  • Act as a positive professional role model, supporting the clinical leadership team to achieve organisational objectives.
Requirements
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Practice Placement qualification or willingness to undertake this qualification within the first year.
  • Able to conduct complex neurophysiotherapy assessments, formulate ICF problem lists, and create specialist treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance.
  • Ability to reflect and initially appraise own performance.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Rehabilitation experience working with individuals with neurological deficits, including acquired brain injury or in a related field such as learning disabilities, MSK, mental health.
