About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team at North Hertfordshire College. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement effective strategies to support students with diverse additional learning needs, promoting independence and tailoring support to individual needs.
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering outstanding teaching and learning, including the use of specialist assistive technology.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the setting and monitoring of individual targets.
  • Provide support with study skills, pastoral needs, and community access to ensure students successfully navigate challenges and progress to their aspirational destination.
  • Support students in engaging with work experience opportunities, including arranging placements and coaching students for interviews.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with vulnerable young people with SEND, including Neurodiversity and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Commitment to improving opportunities for young people with SEND, especially in areas of independence, health, and well-being.
  • Proven communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to motivate others to reach their potential.
  • High levels of personal integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong track record of adapting and developing creative methods to engage young people, with a calm and positive approach.
