The Role: Deputy Manager - Young People's Residential CareWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Deputy Manager for a Young People's Service. In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting the Registered Home Manager in the day-to-day operations of our residential care facility for young people aged 11 to 17.
Your Responsibilities:- Provide a safe, warm, and caring environment for young people with emotional/behavioral disorders and/or mild learning difficulties who require residential accommodation.
- Foster a culture within the home that prioritizes the needs of the young people, encouraging their development, maturity, and growth.
- Support and encourage young people, offering guidance and enabling them to effectively manage challenges and issues they face.
- Ensure each young person receives individualized support tailored to their needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with young people, their families, residential workers, and other relevant professionals.
- Facilitate opportunities for young people to participate in socially valuable activities and interests within the community, maximizing access to local resources.
- Maintain and encourage positive connections between young people and their families and friends.
- Promote and support young people's proactive engagement in their health and well-being, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices.
- Ensure inclusivity and respect for young people from diverse backgrounds, religions, and cultures, preventing any form of discrimination.
- Implement control measures within the home that align with service policies and practices, empowering young people to gradually take more responsibility for their behavior and lives.
- Advocate for young people's access to education, employment, and training opportunities, ensuring they are not denied these essential resources.
- Provide young people with the opportunity to develop social and practical living skills, facilitating a smooth transition into adulthood.
Successful candidates will possess:
- Proficiency in children's residential care and a willingness to participate in relevant training, including QCF Level 3 Children and Young People, Team Leading Level 2 & 3, up to e.g., QCF Level 5 Leadership in Care.
- Prior management, leadership, supervisory, or business management certification is beneficial.
