Job Title: Health and Safety Adviser

Chemring Energetics UK Ltd is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence, and key commercial customers.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Health and Safety Adviser to assist in maintaining the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment of the workforce, visitors to site, and neighbours through training, advising, supporting, and monitoring compliance with legislation and local procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
  • Support the HSSE Operations Manager and work with the Plant Management to ensure that the Health, Safety Security & Environment Policy and the underpinning management systems are understood and adhered to.
  • Conduct H&S inspections, audits, and general monitoring of the allocated areas to ensure compliance and to assist in managing the actions arising from these activities.
  • Support the maintenance of the safety and environmental management systems – keeping data up to date, compiling statistics, looking at trends, producing reports, preparing procedures, etc.
  • Assist in the completion of risk assessments to an acceptable standard.
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards, and suggest changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSSE training material.
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and undertake/support root cause analysis.
Requirements
  • Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
  • The ability to build and develop effective relationships and use these to improve performance.
  • Accredited Certificate in Training.
  • Risk assessment knowledge and experience obtained in a high hazard environment.
  • Incident investigation experience, problem-solving, root cause analysis.
  • Advanced IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
