Senior Cloud Operations Engineer

Contractual Engagement

This role involves a Cloud Operations Engineer who will be responsible for providing support for applications hosted in the cloud. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills related to infrastructure and applications, along with a solid understanding of incident management processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Infrastructure as Code (IAC) using CloudFormation
  • Proficient in AWS Services including Cloud Compute, ECS, API Gateway, Service Catalog, and IAM
  • Experience with Jenkins for CI/CD and troubleshooting build failures
  • Familiarity with application monitoring tools such as CloudWatch
  • Knowledge of AWS Lambda and CLI

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for cloud-based applications, addressing incidents raised by development teams and coordinating with AWS Technical Support as necessary.
  • Engage with AWS Support teams and participate in collaborative events to enhance support capabilities.
  • Monitor application performance and ensure operational efficiency.

Experience Requirements:

Proven experience in managing CloudFormation and provisioning infrastructure, along with a background in application deployment support and incident management.

Automation and Scripting:

Experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, and Groovy, particularly in the context of automation and infrastructure management.

Interview Insights:

Candidates may be asked to elaborate on various topics, including:

  • Deployment strategies such as Blue-Green and Canary deployments.
  • Creating CloudFormation templates for resource management.
  • Utilizing AWS Secrets Manager and Lambda in practical scenarios.

  • Incident management processes and major incident definitions.
