About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Secretarial Team in Gloucester. As a key member of our team, you will provide timely and effective legal advice and support to senior stakeholders across various business units.

Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, identifying key legal risks, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders and external legal providers.

You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with legal developments, maintaining a controlled standard suite of contracts, and driving legal understanding and knowledge sharing within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing general legal advice on commercial, technology, data protection, intellectual property, and regulatory matters
  • Identifying key legal risks and ensuring adequate support is provided
  • Liaising with project teams to support business and project objectives
  • Building effective relationships with stakeholders and business areas across the Group
  • Maintaining relationships with external legal providers and facilitating knowledge transfer
  • Staying up-to-date with legal developments and identifying changing legal requirements
  • Maintaining a controlled standard suite of contracts
  • Driving legal understanding and knowledge sharing within the organization
Requirements
  • Qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales with 3+ years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Desirable experience in financial services and in-house legal roles
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to design rational and proportionate solutions
  • Courage to challenge and build effective relationships
