At Babcock, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Material Planner, you'll play a key role in our Vehicle Engineering business, which operates a whole life methodology to specialist vehicle conversions.
The Role
As a Material Planner, you'll be responsible for managing the release of demands for materials, coordinating change control activities, and creating and distributing material availability and shortage reports. This role offers an opportunity to develop the position through continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Sales and Operations Planning process by developing the material requirements planning capability within the business to align with operational planning and customer requirements.
- Support in the evolving, managing, and maintaining the MRP tool. Create and distribute material reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Engage with internal stakeholders in continuous improvement activities within the Material planning function and evolve existing processes through continuous improvement tasks; aiming for greater discipline, control, and documentation within all functions.
- Raise and release purchase requisitions towards procurement based on demand profiles.
- Control of materials under engineering change process towards all stakeholders. Control the release of engineer Bills of Material towards procurement.
- Escalate material availability to purchasing and supply chain management stakeholders and ensure production requirements are communicated and prioritised.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience within an engineering planning environment.
- Ability to use spreadsheets (Excel), databases, shared working environment, and other IT programmes.
- Willingness to work 'hands on' across the wider business when necessary.
- Self-starter with high energy levels, personal drive, and commitment.
- Experienced user of material requirements planning systems / Tools.
Qualifications:
- Higher Diploma Level or relevant experience is desirable but not essential.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
