Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Manager to join our team at The Pilot Group. As a key member of our HR function, you will play a critical role in driving our HR strategy and plans for growth forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • HR Operations
    • Manage day-to-day HR operations, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
    • Collaborate with senior management to understand the organisation's goals and objectives, translating these into HR priorities.
    • Monitor HR metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Employee Relations
    • Act as a primary point of contact for employee queries and issues, providing robust guidance and support.
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations cases, including grievances, disciplinaries, and performance issues.
    • Promote a positive work environment and culture through effective communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Talent Management
    • Support the Talent Acquisition Manager with the recruitment process, including creating and reviewing job descriptions, shortlisting and conducting interviews where appropriate.
    • Develop and implement talent management and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
    • Oversee the onboarding processes, ensuring new hires are effectively integrated into the Company.
    • Identify skill gaps and develop training and development programs to address these needs.
  • Performance Management
    • Manage the performance appraisal process, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
    • Develop and implement performance improvement plans for underperforming employees.
    • Facilitate regular performance reviews and ensure consistent and fair evaluation practices.
  • Compliance and Employment Law
    • Ensure compliance with all UK employment laws and regulations, including GDPR, and equality and diversity legislation.
    • Keep abreast of legislative changes and advise the business accordingly.
    • Conduct regular audits of HR processes and policies to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Policy Development
    • Develop, implement, and review HR policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and in line with best practices.
    • Provide training and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.
    • Ensure consistent application of HR policies across the organisation.
  • HR Projects
    • Lead and participate in HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys, and organisational change projects.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of HR projects.
  • Reporting
    • Prepare and present HR metrics and reports to Managing Director and Board of Directors providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
    • Analyse HR data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HR information.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above).
  • Experience
    • Proven experience in a similar HR managerial role, preferably within a group or multi-site organisation.
  • Knowledge
    • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
