Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Port Operative to join our team at the Humber Ports. As a Port Operative, you will play a crucial role in supporting the UK's supply chain from discharge to distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stevedore/Quayside Duties: Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo from ships, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Plant Driving: Operate a range of plant equipment, including Forklift Trucks, Payloaders, Shovels, Tugs, and Mobile Harbour Cranes, to facilitate cargo handling and movement.
  • Weighbridge/Gatehouse: Monitor and record cargo weights, dimensions, and other relevant information, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Stock Counts: Conduct regular stock counts to ensure accurate inventory levels and identify any discrepancies.
  • Industrial Cleaning: Maintain a clean and safe working environment by performing regular cleaning tasks.
  • Traffic Marshall and Vehicle Banksman: Assist in the safe movement of vehicles and personnel within the port area.

  • Comfortable Working in All Weather Conditions: Be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Full UK Driving Licence: Possess a valid full UK driving licence.
  • Valid or Expired Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence: Hold a valid or expired counterbalance forklift truck licence.
  • HGV Licence: Possess a valid HGV licence.
  • Valid or Expired Payloader/Shovel Licence: Hold a valid or expired payloader/shovel licence.
  • Experience in Similar Roles: Have experience in similar roles, such as port operative, stevedore, CSCS labourer, plant driver, forklift driver, shovel driver, vehicle banksman, slinger banksman, crane driver, quarry operative, warehouse operative, or weighbridge.
  • Previous Experience Working with Commodities: Have previous experience working with commodities such as steel, 1t bags, or timber.
  • Experience Operating a Radio: Possess experience operating a radio.
