Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our team at CV Library. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and optimising components and systems used in heavy industrial applications, particularly in the material handling sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and optimise detailed 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
  2. Design components and systems used in heavy industry, including cranes, structural steel frameworks, and material handling equipment
  3. Perform stress analysis and hand calculations to ensure the integrity and safety of designs
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
  5. Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards and regulations
  6. Troubleshoot and provide technical support for hydraulic, gearbox, and motor systems
  7. Work closely with suppliers and the manufacturing team to ensure accurate implementation of designs
  8. Report directly to the Engineering Manager on project progress and offer innovative design improvements
  9. Participate in design reviews and propose cost-reduction initiatives without compromising on quality or safety
Requirements:
  1. Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD software)
  2. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, gearboxes, and motors
  3. Experience in the design of heavy industrial equipment such as cranes and structural steel frameworks
  4. Familiarity with stress analysis and performing hand calculations
  5. Strong understanding of material properties and mechanical design principles
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  8. Proven experience as a Design Engineer, preferably within the heavy industry or material handling sector
