The Role:
You will provide leadership and support for a team of direct reports in the warehouse on a day-to-day basis, establishing yourself as a key player in the wider Operational Management team. You will be responsible for planning, delegating, and monitoring the workload across all warehouse functions within your area to meet the required operational service level across a range of customers in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of warehouse staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Plan and manage the workload across all warehouse functions, including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods, to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
- Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock records and minimizing stock discrepancies.
- Implement and maintain health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as transportation and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and excellent customer service.
- Identify and implement process improvements, increasing efficiency and productivity while reducing costs.
- Manage and support short-term and long-term absences, monitoring return-to-work interviews and follow-up actions as required.
- Manage conduct and performance issues, providing counseling, training, or disciplinary action as necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a warehouse environment, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience with using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
- Strong numerical skills, with the ability to manage budgets and financial reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
