Job Title: Senior Medical Oncologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Oncologist to join our team at The Christie NHS FT. As a Senior Medical Oncologist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our oncology services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in medical oncology, with a particular focus on gynaecological cancers. You will be responsible for managing patients with gynaecological cancer, including those receiving standard therapy and those participating in phase I/II/III trials. You will also contribute to the development of protocols to optimize in-patient management of gynaecological medical oncology patients, with a specific focus on malignant bowel obstruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patients with gynaecological cancer, including those receiving standard therapy and those participating in phase I/II/III trials.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols to optimize in-patient management of gynaecological medical oncology patients, with a specific focus on malignant bowel obstruction.
  • Support the CAReGO service, both from an in-patient and out-patient perspective.
  • Contribute to current research projects and establish new opportunities to expand and develop research within the team.
  • Revision and development of evidence-based protocols for patients and undertaking the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
  • Maintaining a level of continuing professional development consistent with the recommendations of the Royal College of Physicians.
  • Actively contributing to the training of junior doctors and other multi-disciplinary team members in both in-patient and outpatient departments.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical oncology, with a particular focus on gynaecological cancers. You will have a proven track record of managing patients with gynaecological cancer, including those receiving standard therapy and those participating in phase I/II/III trials. You will also have experience in teaching undergraduates, clinical audit, and management/leadership in a service area.
