Behavioural Support Worker Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Support Worker to join our team in Southampton. As a Behavioural Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour and fostering a supportive learning environment for students.

About the Role:

The Behavioural Support Worker will assist in the implementation of behaviour support plans (BSPs) developed by teachers and SENCO, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in managing challenging behaviours. You will offer one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to understand and manage their emotions and behaviours in various settings.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement behaviour support plans (BSPs) developed by teachers and SENCO.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour and social skills among students.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to develop and review behaviour intervention strategies.
  • Monitor student behaviour and progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges in an educational or similar setting.
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to effectively support students in managing their behaviour and emotions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
