Gemini Recruitment Services Ltd is partnering with a large and established law firm to recruit an experienced Immigration Solicitor. The successful candidate will join a team of highly skilled lawyers who have trained as barristers and undertake complex appeal cases up to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Solicitor to manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers. The ideal candidate will have a strong management background, excellent client care skills, and the ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Department Director
- Responsible for all aspects of Immigration work, including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
- Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities
- Assist with delivery of appropriate training and development in the department
- Deal with a range of Immigration work, including detained clients, victims of trafficking and torture, asylum work, entry clearance applications, and appeals
- Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
- Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and processing evidence
- Prepare applications to meet Home Office requirements
- Attend conferences and court
Requirements:
- Registered with the Law Society Immigration Accreditation Level 2
- Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying
- Strong management skills
- Professional with a pro-active approach, excellent client care skills, and ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner
- Excellent networking and communication skills
- Working knowledge of the publically funded Immigration work and ability to service privately funded cases
- Extensive experience in dealing with all Immigration related work and some expertise on adoption matters
- Experience in own advocacy is an advantage
- Excellent IT Skills - familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
