Identification Officer Job Description

Adecco UK Limited is seeking a skilled Identification Officer to join their team. As an Identification Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of identification procedures within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identification Procedures: Arrange and carry out identification procedures, including captures, compilations, showings, recording, and exhibiting of evidence, to the required standard, ensuring compliance with PACE, case law, and local procedures and policies.
  • Workload Management: Manage the workload within your area of responsibility, including rearranging appointments to accommodate 'in Custody' cases and ensuring that all departmental appointments are recorded in the booking diary.
  • Witness and Solicitor Support: Provide witnesses and solicitors with the required information regarding parade timings, ensuring they are fully cognizant of the process.
  • Legal and Financial Consequences: Respond to legal challenges surrounding identification issues and be able to justify the procedures undertaken in accordance with the law both pre, during, and after the procedure.
  • Advisory Service: Provide an up-to-date advisory service to the Force in respect of identification procedures in consultation with the Police Inspector.
Requirements:
  • Education: Good standard of education, including excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Customer Service: Proven customer service skills with a particular focus on engaging effectively with people at all levels in potentially aggressive encounters.
  • IT Literacy: IT literate and the ability to learn and use IT packages effectively.
  • Pressure Management: Proven ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to gather and record information effectively within set procedures, in a logical and easily understood format and style.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work unsupervised and within a team, while being able to self-motivate.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven relevant experience, such as IT or Photographic.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of VIPER procedures for capture of suspect and subsequent showing of parade to witness(es), including laptop facility, and knowledge of databases used to record procedures.
