Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our team. As an Insurance Underwriter, you'll be responsible for producing and underwriting new and renewal business from assigned brokers in accordance with underwriting authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and assess risk to maximize business growth and profitability for allocated book of business
- Actively participate and support Development Underwriters in new business, renewal, and mid-term alteration underwriting activities
- Provide leadership and coaching to Associate Underwriters to help with their development
- Identify and capture new business opportunities and effectively cross-sell Bond & Specialty and Business Insurance products
- Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management systems and adherence to documentation standards
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in other parts of the organization
- Actively engage and seek out training opportunities to further develop underwriting and sales expertise
- Work effectively as a productive and supportive team member in conjunction with more senior team members
Requirements
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Certification preferred
- Previous experience of underwriting in management liability/professional indemnity/financial institutions required
- Basic analytical thinking/financial acumen
- Identifies current or future problems or opportunities, analyzes, synthesizes, and compares information to understand issues, identifies cause/effect relationships, and explores alternatives to support sound decision-making
