Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Conduct assessments, establish diagnoses, formulate, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
  • Manage interventions for patients with intricate health needs.
  • Identify and manage treatment strategies for patients at risk of developing chronic conditions.
  • Diagnose and treat both acute and chronic health issues, incorporating both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications for therapeutic effectiveness, ensuring alignment with patient needs and evidence-based practices.
  • Support patients in adhering to prescribed treatments and provide guidance on medication regimens, including potential side effects and interactions.
  • Prioritize health concerns and intervene effectively in urgent or emergency situations, including initiating emergency care when necessary.
  • Encourage patients to adopt health-promoting strategies and self-care principles.
  • Deliver evidence-based care for a diverse range of health conditions.
  • Work autonomously at various practice locations, covering for absent General Practitioners or Nurse Practitioners.

Communication Skills

  • Utilize effective communication techniques to ensure patients are well-informed and consent to treatment.
  • Engage with patients and their families, adapting communication methods to accommodate varying levels of understanding and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proactively address communication barriers to enhance patient interactions.
  • Maintain clear communication within the practice and with external partners.
  • Act as a patient and colleague advocate.
  • Provide information on available support services in an accessible format, recognizing individual patient needs.

  • Operate within the professional code of conduct as regulated by the relevant nursing authority.

  • Mentor junior staff, assessing their competencies against established standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant nursing or health-related degree.
  • Experience in clinical supervision and mentorship.
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification.
  • Minimum of five years post-registration experience, with at least three years in primary and community nursing.
  • Experience in managing minor illnesses and triage.
  • Leadership in quality initiatives and team management.
