Position: Director of Financial Operations


Urban Digital Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Director of Financial Operations to join a pioneering DeepTech AI start-up. This role is hybrid and based in London, offering a competitive salary of approximately £90k.


This forward-thinking DeepTech AI firm is at the forefront of transforming the artificial intelligence sector with state-of-the-art technology and innovative SaaS offerings. With substantial backing from various investors, the company is experiencing rapid growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Work closely with the fractional CFO to formulate and implement financial strategies that align with the company's growth ambitions and expansion plans.
  • Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow, enhancing processes for improved efficiency.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses and deliver actionable insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to protect the company’s assets.
  • Act as a primary liaison for external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory bodies, fostering strong relationships to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in fundraising initiatives and investor relations, providing necessary financial data and insights to potential investors.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental projects, collaborating with various teams to promote operational excellence and achieve business goals.


About You:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business & Finance, or a related discipline; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting, ideally within the technology or SaaS sectors.
  • Experience in a start-up environment, ideally as the sole finance professional.
  • A strong grasp of financial principles, regulations, and best practices, with the capability to apply them in a dynamic setting.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, with a talent for interpreting financial data and conveying insights to stakeholders.
  • A proven history of leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to influence decisions at all organizational levels.
  • Experience working with remote teams is advantageous.
  • The ability to excel in a hybrid work environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues across diverse locations.
  • A vibrant and personable demeanor, capable of engaging with key stakeholders across various territories.
