We are seeking a skilled Legal Contracts Specialist to become an integral part of a compact team within a reputable and expanding IT-managed service provider.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in the legal department, delivering practical legal assistance to various business units in their daily operations, including sales, pre-sales, procurement, and management teams. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure a streamlined and efficient service is provided to internal stakeholders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer pragmatic, commercial, and succinct advice on contract stipulations, legal matters, and business risks.
- Examine and modify terms in diverse agreements, such as supplier and customer contracts, software licenses, SaaS agreements, and service provision contracts.
- Engage in negotiations with clients and suppliers in accordance with business needs and company policies to meet business goals and manage risk appropriately.
- Oversee and maintain contract registers and management systems.
- Collaborate closely with various departments to facilitate the onboarding of new suppliers and clients pertinent to the business sector.
- Investigate legal and regulatory matters as they arise.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors in non-UK jurisdictions or for specialized legal expertise, applying their guidance to relevant situations.
- Ensure that the business's legal templates remain current and applicable.
- Contribute positively to the team's operations by proposing enhancements that may lead to more effective or efficient workflows.
- Keep your line manager informed about your workload and any pertinent issues related to your role.
- Adhere to the processes and procedures established by the team and the organization as they pertain to your responsibilities.
- Focus on your growth as a contracts specialist and business professional.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Legal education (e.g., law degree, LPC, GDL) demonstrating a solid grasp of fundamental legal principles, including English contract law and negligence.
- Experience in-house with commercial agreements, ideally within the IT sector.
- Strong understanding of contract law and familiarity with cross-border agreements and their complexities.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively for the benefit of the organization.
- Sound business judgment, with an understanding of commercial pressures and implications.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly to key stakeholders without excessive legal jargon.
- Aptitude for drafting clear, concise, and comprehensible communications, including legal agreements and related correspondence.
- Proficient in Office365 suite.
- Strong negotiation skills to achieve favorable business outcomes while maintaining positive relationships with clients and suppliers.
- Adaptable and able to work flexibly within a medium-sized, growing organization.
- A positive attitude towards work and a collaborative team player, sharing knowledge and responsibilities effectively while keeping all stakeholders informed.
