We are seeking an experienced Attendance Support Mentor to join our team at New Directions Education Ltd. As an Attendance Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs and helping them to achieve their full potential.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with hard-to-reach students, secondary in age, inside and outside of the classroom. You will be responsible for supervising and providing learning support for students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, as well as supporting teaching and learning at GCSE and Functional Skills level.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and provide learning support for students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis
  • Support teaching and learning at GCSE and Functional Skills level
  • Assist with outreach work for learners who struggle with attendance
  • Work with senior leaders to improve attendance across the school
  • Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans
Person Specification:

We are looking for an individual who has:

  • Experience working in the care, youth work, coaching or education sector
  • A strong understanding of SEND, specifically SEMH
  • Experience of de-escalating challenging behaviour
  • Outgoing, fun and engaging personality
  • Ability to support children of all abilities and needs
