**Youth Mentor**

**Job type**:Part time (up to 20 hours a week)

This organization works closely with young people who are disengaged from education, who may have been exposed to violence or criminally exploited. Their mission is to support these young people and guide them towards a safer, more constructive future. They run several programmes designed to enhance the learning experience of young people and specialise in Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), and County Lines. The organisation is passionate about tackling these issues and work hard to raise awareness and understanding.

The one-to-one mentoring service and content delivery, supports young people who are struggling and helps them redirect their life towards something more positive.

The Company is looking for Youth Mentor to provide tailored guidance and deliver preventative workshops to young people enrolled in our programmes. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual with strong social skills and a passion for helping young people succeed.

You will be working with
- Young people aged 11-18.
- Looked after children (LAC)
- Young people from different ethnicities and backgrounds.
- Young people living in areas of deprivation.
- Young people at risk of school exclusion or feeling disengaged or unsafe at school/ in the community.

**Responsibilities**
- Build positive and meaningful relationships with young people.
- Provide emotional support and develop coping strategies to manage difficult situations.
- Help young people set and achieve personal and professional goals
- Help young people develop communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with other mentors and professionals to support young people.
- Keep accurate and up to date records of mentoring sessions and progress.
- Attend training and professional development.

**Locations and Commitments**

This role is based in Manchester and requires in person attendance. A driver’s license and access to a car is preferred, as mentors will be visiting with clients across Greater Manchester and on some occasions, further out.

**Qualifications**

We would like to hear from anyone who has a genuine interest in our work and is passionate about supporting young people in crisis. Perhaps you have graduated or are studying psychology, sociology, social sciences, criminal justice, etc.
