Pastoral Support Assistant Job Description

A "Good" secondary school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join their team immediately. In this role, you will collaborate closely with students, faculty, and parents to ensure every student receives the support they need to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional and practical support to students across all year groups.
  • Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive interactions within the school community.
  • Work closely with the Pastoral Team, safeguarding leads, and teaching staff to identify and support students in need.
  • Support the development of personal and social skills through one-to-one or small group sessions.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual behaviour or support plans for students.
  • Act as a liaison between students, parents, and external agencies to ensure the well-being and safety of students.
  • Produce punctuality and attendance letters for distribution.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in a school or similar setting.
  • A caring and empathetic approach, with excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting the emotional and social development of students.
