Job Title: Clinical Immunologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Immunologist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Clinical Immunologist, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, drug allergy, and chronic spontaneous urticaria.

About the Role

This is a full-time post, working at St James's University Teaching Hospital. The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to sustain current capacity of the service for clinical allergy and immunology work, with a view to expansion following further development of nursing clinics and review of patient throughput.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sustain the current capacity of the service for clinical allergy and immunology work, with a view to expansion following further development of nursing clinics and review of patient throughput.
  • Ensure the smooth flow from diagnosis to treatment & follow up.
  • Support development of Allergy & Immunology Service.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary team & developing innovative ways of working to sustain increasing patient load.
  • Contribute to the Allergy & Immunology on call rota (Category B).
  • Ensure optimal delivery of diagnostic laboratory support in line with standards from clinical pathology accreditation and in line with the planned developments of the Yorkshire diagnostic laboratory network.
Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • MB BS or equivalent qualification.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • Certificate of completion of Specialist training in Immunology FRCPath or equivalent.
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant higher degree eg MD/PhD relevant to the sub-specialty.
  • Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
  • Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
  • Attendance at recognised management course.
Further Requirements

The successful candidate will be:

  • Medically fit to fulfil ALL aspects of the post, and to be able to respond quickly to emergencies, as necessary.
  • Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice).
  • Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
  • CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process
