Job Description

Job Summary

The Site Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all plant and equipment at the Tradebe facility. This role requires a strong background in engineering and management, with experience in leading teams and managing budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with statutory legal requirements and Tradebe's quality, health & safety and environmental policies.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture by ensuring good housekeeping standards are used, correct PPE is being worn and that any near miss, incident or accidents are made safe and reported.
  • Manage the Engineering team to ensure the safe, standardised and efficient maintenance of all plant and equipment as per planned routines and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee the allocation of daily work orders and control of the technicians to ensure correct prioritisation and close out of site activities.
  • Responsible for managing the correct installation, inspection, servicing and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation on site.
  • Facilitate planning of all shutdown work and intrusive safety critical jobs with associated test bodies and departments.
  • Ensure that all project plans, improvements, repairs and shutdown works are performed to the appropriate standard.
  • Work with the Business Processes Manager to implement and manage engineering Key Performance Indicators for reliability of equipment, plant breakdown time, spares stocks, completion of SAP routines and close out of inspection defects.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering Key Performance Indicators and assist in the implementation of process improvements.
  • Manage direct report holidays and ensure sufficient coverage is maintained to operate the department.
  • Manage all aspects of team HR, including absenteeism and disciplinary issues.
  • Ensure all waste generated through engineering activities is disposed of timely and efficiently in-line with current legislation.
  • Assist the Site Manager in all aspects of their work and deputise as required in their absence.

Requirements

  • Define standards so that all work is undertaken in a manner conducive to good Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards around the plant in accordance with best practices.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Supervisor to establish a balanced work schedule as per agreed priorities.
  • Communicate the KPI's of the department through provision of regular performance monitoring data.
  • Aid and guide the Engineering Supervisor to develop suitable task instructions and technical documents.
  • Provide suitable time and resource to manage hazard, risk and COSHH assessments.
  • Control the provision of suitable documentation, competent resource and approval for all engineering Permit to Work requests.
  • Encourage and challenge the engineering team to optimise plant/equipment to maximise group profitability.
  • Regularly monitor contract labour and review performance to ensure effective, efficient and safe work practices.
  • Ensure the department provides suitable robust instructions to safely perform all tasks.
  • Review, assess and plan capex projects for new plant and/or equipment coming to site.
  • Make suitable arrangements for managing CDM projects.
  • Create clear and concise plans to execute and monitor progress of routine tasks, equipment repairs and project work.
  • Encourage good communications and reporting from engineering teams.
  • Approve SAP purchase orders for the engineering department.
  • Track departmental spend and aim to keep within set budget.
  • Manage the engineering team to provide effective control over consumables and spares.
  • Develop succession plans for the engineering team.
  • Controlled documents are suitably managed by the Engineering Supervisor.
  • In the event of a Major Accident Hazard scenario, act as the Site Incident Controller (SIC) or provide support to the SIC.
