Lead Supplier Strategy Manager

Job Overview
This pivotal position within Digital, Data, and Technology Services (DDTS) plays a crucial role in supporting the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office and the Senior Management Team (SMT). You will oversee a team of Strategic Supplier Managers and act as a deputy for the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office when necessary.
The primary focus is on managing and sustaining the DDTS supplier contracts portfolio, ensuring compliance with government standards for Digital, Data, and Technology. This involves collaborating with commercial teams and service owners to ensure that proper governance and market practices are implemented.
With the advent of new and innovative technologies, this role presents an exciting opportunity to help shape the services required from suppliers to align with our current and future IT Strategy.
Note: This position allows for hybrid working arrangements, with a designated base location at one of NHSBT's primary centers.
Key Responsibilities
This central role within Digital, Data, and Technology Services (DDTS) supports the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office and the Senior Management Team in managing our comprehensive contracts portfolio. In addition to leading a team of Strategic Supplier Managers, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Facilitating the execution of the DDTS Sourcing Strategy, focusing on four key priorities: supplier segmentation framework, supplier rationalization, augmented resource management, and future strategic supplier partnerships to enhance and innovate our existing service delivery.
- Serving as an effective gatekeeper and playing a significant role in assisting the Head of the DDTS Portfolio Office and Service Owners with complex and influential supplier relationships, where understanding organizational dynamics and current priorities is essential.
- Developing and managing the DDTS contracts portfolio, including establishing an effective renewal schedule and engaging with key stakeholders across the Directorate in a timely manner to renew or replace existing supplier contracts.
- Ensuring timely reporting on the DDTS contracts portfolio to senior management and the monthly DDTS Change Programme Board, capturing and escalating any risks and issues appropriately.
- Maintaining the supplier performance measurement system and ensuring a consistent approach is adopted, holding suppliers accountable for their performance.
- Assisting the Assistant Director and other SMT members with the DDTS Efficiency Programme to ensure optimal value is achieved from contract negotiations and that any savings are captured.
You may be required to travel and spend time away from your base, which could involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when necessary, with prior notice.
