About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Watergate Bay Hotel. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the management of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in the planning, preparation, and presentation of menus
- Oversee the kitchen team, ensuring that all staff are working efficiently and effectively
- Monitor and control food costs, ensuring that they are within budget
- Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to conduct regular kitchen audits
- Supervise and participate in the preparation, cooking, and portioning of food dishes
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and report any issues to the Head Chef or General Manager
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar establishment
- NVQ 1 Food Hygiene certificate/training
- Interest and passion for the food industry
- Flexible attitude to working hours and variable shift patterns
- Basic computer skills
- Creative and aware of current culinary trends
- Excellent International culinary knowledge across various cuisine types
- Management experience
- Good team player
- Good leader/staff motivator

- Calm under pressure

- Desire and ability to train others
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
