Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Temporary

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Salary: £12.78 per hour, depending on skills and experience

Hours: 37 hours per week – Term Time Only

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be working with a large SEN school based in Wakefield, supporting pupils with complex care needs, including Autism spectrum conditions. The role involves supporting the children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the children with their learning and general wellbeing
  • Assist with care needs from time to time as required
  • Follow plans to ensure each child's needs are met through positive behaviour management and personalised approaches to meeting sensory and communication needs
  • Establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils to support them in feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school
  • Support the class teacher and contribute to providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning
  • Be flexible and able to lend a hand whenever required

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting
  • A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools or an equivalent is desirable
  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C
