Job Overview

The primary objective of this position is to operate as an independent practitioner within the QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre. Collaborating closely with acute medical services, general practitioners, and referral sources for our inpatient rehabilitation program, you will be tasked with meeting the clinical triage demands of the service. You will conduct evaluations of clients presenting with diverse clinical issues, many of which may involve neurological conditions. By employing specialized clinical judgment, evidence-based methodologies, comprehensive assessment techniques, and advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities, you will ascertain client requirements, assess their eligibility for our services, and provide recommendations for the clinical pathway that will best serve the client’s needs. Your contribution will be vital in establishing a trusted assessor framework for those referring clients to our Care and Rehabilitation Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional and legal accountability, adhering to established codes of conduct and professional standards.
  • Conduct specialized holistic rehabilitation assessments, including those with intricate presentations and multiple pathologies.
  • Effectively manage and control triage communications through adept questioning and active listening techniques.
  • Assess patient progress, document findings, and prepare reports.
  • Communicate proficiently with patients, their families, caregivers, and colleagues.
  • Operate in accordance with QEF policies and procedures.

About Our Organization

Queen Elizabeth's Foundation for Disabled People is a charity based in Surrey, dedicated to delivering transformative services for individuals with disabilities. At the QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre, a modern facility with 48 beds, we provide four distinct pathways for Neuro Rehabilitation, General Rehabilitation, Complex Neurological Care, and Outpatient/Respite Services.

Job Duties

  • Assume professional and legal responsibility for all aspects of your role.
  • Conduct neurorehabilitation assessments and monitor patient progress.
  • Engage in effective communication with clients, caregivers, and team members.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the QEF CRC service and support the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Operate within your professional framework and demonstrate a solid understanding of national and local practice standards.

Candidate Profile

Knowledge and Competencies

Required

  • Exhibit effective clinical skills at a Band 6 competency level.
  • Possess a strong theoretical understanding of various neurological disorders.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Demonstrate well-developed written and verbal communication abilities.

Experience

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community settings.
  • 3+ years of experience working with adults with neurological impairments.
  • Experience in an autonomous rehabilitation environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Registered nurse or postgraduate physiotherapist/occupational therapist.
  • Current registration with NMC or HCPC.
  • Completion of mentorship and clinical supervision training.
