Financial Controller Job Description

A well-established Construction company with an annual turnover of approximately £10m is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of the main business and its subsidiaries.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director and be responsible for managing financial planning, analysis, and payroll.

This role requires a self-motivated and ambitious individual with excellent financial planning and management skills, as well as proficiency in financial management software.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to HMRC and Companies House
  • Prepare financial reports and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Complete month-end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support financial matters to the department when needed
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws
  • Work with external accountants for year-end reporting
  • Safeguard company assets
Requirements:
  • ACCA-qualified or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of similar experience
  • Excellent team management skills and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and ambitious
  • Excellent communication skills
